Crash Victim Extrication

The Crash Victim Extrication course is designed to provide the student with an opportunity to develop skills and increase his/her proficiency in the safe operation of the various types of vehicular extrication tools and equipment provided by the course host department or agency. This course utilizes classroom lectures, discussions, video presentations and hands-on practical exercises to illustrate and reinforce the principles, the functions, the limitations and techniques of vehicular extrication. Students will be required to bring protective equipment which includes turnout coat, pants, boots, gloves, and helmet with face shield or eye protection.

Specific topics addressed in this course are vehicle stabilization, gaining access to the victim, victim stabilization, victim disentanglement, patient packaging, and victim removal.
This course is recommended for all emergency response personnel.
